Artomatic Artwork 2012, Part Eight:

Artomatic may be over but I still have a lot of amazing artwork to post! I have at least six more posts to make so I'll be posting for the next couple of weeks. Please be patient however, I am moving through the 4th of July!



Diana Quinn's encaustics are beautiful. Her work shown at Artomatic mainly focuses on the sea and related aspects. I love the interesting texture she manged to get on the piece with the koi.

Monica Gary's work is very dream like. I'm sure by now you know if I say that about a piece of work it means I like it!

Aside from having a cool name, Jimmy Graves has some cool paintings at Artomatic. I thought the face that Monica Gary is showing in her space would look great next to the one Jimmy is showing in his space.

Drew Storm Graham's 3D work has it all. Texture, color, simplicity and boldness. I enjoy the old school tattoo style of his work as well.

Describing Mei Mei Chang's work is difficult, but in the best of ways. There is so much going on, so many ways to describe each piece. Again my favorite way to describe art I'm drawn to is dreamlike. It's like Mei Mei's has created my dream world, especially the largest piece below. Connection, disconnection, different textures, time and space suspended, some familiar and unfamiliar spaces all conjoined into one. Needless to say I really love the way she sees the world.

The DC Creepers work is self explanatory. I love the sketches!

I envy the work that Nate Lucas is doing. I'm so allergic to saw dust! I enjoy the repetition of the piece below. It reminds me of horse shoe crabs from the beach.

I enjoyed seeing Glen Kessler's portraits of dogs at this year's Artomatic. I saw them every time I left the building at Artomatic@Frederick last winter so they were a comforting addition to this years! 

Angela Markeen Naglieri's work is inspired by "interesting gestures that suggest meaningful emotions and experiences." I love that description! You can even be a part of Angela's work by sending her an email. What an interesting way to interact with others while making art! Not only is the concept lovely but the sketches are as well. I love the beauty in the soft and bold lines she uses in harmony with one another.

Artomatic Artwork 2012, Part Seven:

As a big fan of Joseph Cornell and pretty much any work that looks similarly influenced I was very interested in George Goetzke's art. I enjoy how in his pieces flow outside of the box structures and their dream like nature.

The encaustic pieces Jennifer Droblyen is showing at Artomatic are of particular interest to me. In my own encaustic work I try to incorporate fleshtones and organic textures. In my opinion Jennifer's art has captured this perfectly.

Brian Jerome Murphy has been so welcoming during this year's Artomatic. His sculptures look like something either out of a horror movie or a well cared for farm. I haven't decided which just yet but I like them either way!

Evan Goldman's work is lovely as is his personality. I had the pleasure of meeting Evan at Artomatic@Frederick in 2011. I'm in awe at the large scale of his detailed paintings. Not only the nudes displayed at this year's Artomatic but Evan's portraits should be seen in person!

Gloria Chapa's installation piece titled ?Imprinting? is interesting. The room smells pleasantly of baby powder which is used in her piece. I suggest seeing it in person and making your own interpretation of her work.

Emily Piccirillo's paintings are not only lovely and etherial but the way they're presented adds to the dreamlike nature, barely attached to reality. The room where they're hanging is soothing to be in.

As someone with synesthesia I find Barbara Januszkiewicz's work extremely interesting! She can describe it better than I can so I have included her artist bio as well as her description of her work.

Artomatic 2012 Artwork, Part Six:

I decided to make a post about some of the darker art I've found so far at Artomatic in honor of Zombie Prom being tonight (6/9/12)!

Henrik Sundqvist's work is some of my favorite at Artomatic. With a birthday that is nearly Halloween and dad who is a doctor it's no secret I'm into anatomy and skeletons. Not only does Henrik's artwork look awesome the frames are very interesting. I can't wait to check more his work out online, I was so intrigued by what I've seen at Artomatic!

 

Kirsty Little's work is versatile yet cohesive. I found myself really interested in the different mediums she uses.

Ashley Linder's Apocalypse installation is pretty interesting!

 Cynthia Sheppard's Illustrations are pretty awesome! Not only zombies, Cynthia has vampires and other dark creatures in her Artomatic space!

I love texture work especially in paintings so Andrei Trach's work caught my eye. Take a look at the description below!
